My son James and I are transplanted Midwesterners from the USA—where we learned the art of fly-fishing on Michigan's fabled AuSable and Manistee rivers. We now live in Singapore where the trout just don't swim. When the urge hits to "wet a fly" we head to the North Island of New Zealand and to the trophy-waters of the Tongariro River and the Lake Taupo basin. This is big-fish country, with fresh-running 8 to 10 pound Brown and Rainbows not uncommon. But its also very technical fishing, where locating the fish can be mind-boggling if not mystifying—to both anglers and their guides. So to insure we always come home successful, with both pictures and great stories, we give Kenny Drummond a call and book at least a full-day outing. We've never been disappointed and we've both caught and released the biggest trout of our lives. Kenny's local knowledge of trout and their environment is unsurpassed—he thinks like a trout, reads the water like it's an electrical diagram and can tie the best hand-made flies in the area. He's also a great story-teller—and some of them may even be true! For an unforgettable fishing experience, give Kenny a call. You will learn a life-time of fishing secrets in just one day…you won't find better value for money in New Zealand.
