Fly fishing is also specific in that the rod is used only for putting the tackle together and casting. When catching a trophy it does not play as significant a role as in other types of fishing. Classification of fly fishing rods divides them into 14 classes depending on length and power.

The first two of them are a kind of nakhlystovy ultralight with a length of the blank of about two meters. They are used for delicate fishing of non-large fish on small rivers, small ponds. Specialists do not recommend using sticks of the first and second class in fly fishing for beginners.

The following, third and fourth classes, are rods with a length of eight to nine feet, by analogy with spinning blanks – light, light, sticks. In principle, they can already be recommended for beginners, if the first fishing with nakhlystom will be carried out in a calm flat river, for example, on chub or yazya.

Fly fishing for beginners experts recommend to start with medium-class rods: from the fifth to the seventh, in length they can exceed three meters. It is they will smooth out the problems that a beginner will certainly have when mastering this method of fishing. Meanwhile, such sticks are used in the catching of almost all types of fish, they cope with throwing not only light flies, but they can be fished with nymphs and streamers.

The more powerful classes of fly rods are used for fishing on large rivers or in the waters of seas and oceans. They are used for throwing particularly large lures and working long distances.

Fly rods have a special reel holder. It is located at the very end of the stem, behind the handle. This determines the fishing technique in which the reel is not used either when throwing or wading.
