A long throw spinning rod is a category of fishing rods designed for fishing at a considerable distance from the angler. It is designed to perform throws at impressive distances, in order to get to a promising point or area in which predatory fish are hunting.
The need for rods for long throws arises when you have to fish remote areas from the shore. This may be a variety of channel bottom irregularities, single submerged tree trunks, long grooves or local pits and hillocks.
The sphere of application of such spinning rods is not too wide. In fact, these rods can be called specialized, which are used in individual cases, when the situation requires it:
- Stud fishing, when the predator feeds at a decent distance from the angler and does not let close. This is a classic case when hunting for this predator. Therefore, long ago developed special long-range blades, working under the surface and the corresponding messenger rods under them.
- Shore jig on medium and large rivers. On such reservoirs very often there is a need to make throws at long distances, because it is there, there are the most promising points in which there is a large predator.
- Salmon fishing on fast northern rivers and large lakes. In this case, it is also often necessary to be able to make long throws oscillators or spinners.
In all other situations, the throwing distance is not critical, and many predators can be successfully caught in the coastal zone or on small reservoirs, using wobblers, small silicone and other types of universal baits.
As follows from the name and purpose of spinning rods, they contain the appropriate characteristics that allow you to perform throws at ultra-long distances. Of course, the main indicator of such a rod is its length. Short rods will not allow you to make long throws because of a small swing and a small inertia. What can not be said about “dewy” sticks.
