9th November 2019: Turangi trout fishing report

Weather: 21 degree C (day), 14 degree C (evening)

Trout fishing around Turangi remains strong with lots of happy spring Anglers about having good catch rates with lots of top quality Trout being taking home for eating. Turangi and the central platuae have been blessed with some outstanding weather in the last couple of weeks bringing very hot sunny days to the Lake Taupo area. Mayflies have been hatching well for a while now on all rivers now the temp is up. Green Manuka beetles are also out and about on the wing in warmer areas and will continue to hatch to well in January.
October certainly was a wild and windy month here in Turangi with gale force winds bringing cold fronts up from the south Island with late snow falls on the mountains. Very good reports of nice trout being caught from the boat angers fishing Lake Taupo are common at present. Lake Take Brown Trout appear to have started their yearly spawning run up all rivers and streams around the Lake. Lake Otamangakau appears to have been fishing well in the last couple of weeks with some very good reports coming in of some very top conditioned Rainbow and Brown Trout taking on the Fly.

Cheers tight lines
