2nd June 2020: Turangi trout fishing report

Weather: 17 degree C (day), 6 degree C (evening), Sunny light west wind

Winter season is here now in the Turangi and lake Taupo area. This is the start of the spawning season with the Trout leaving lake Taupo to run their river of Birth over the next four months.
Queens birthday weekend saw lots of anglers out fly fishing the Tongariro river, Tauranga Taupo river, Hatepe river, with nice sunny weather Saturday and Sunday. Light rain fell over night here so this small fresh will induce a small run of fresh Trout up our rivers.
Lake Taupo is still at a very low level and will soon change as we get the winters cold southern fronts delivering lots of rain, snow and wild weather this im sure will be welcomed with open arms by many.
Reports from boats anglers say they had very good fishing on Lake Taupo this weekend with calm conditions some good quality trout were taken for the table caught trolling down deep.
Stream mouth fishing has been productive for some fisher people and will this continue to do so with some nice size Browns Trout have been caught.

Cheers tight lines
