March 2021
27th March 2021: Turangi trout fishing report
Weather: 21 degree C (day), 12 degree C (evening)
March has delivered Turangi Lake Taupo area with glorious Sunny days with warm balmy nights but as I write this report I feel a cooler change on the way which will certainly be welcomed by all.
Tongariro river is running very low and slippery so anglers need to take a little care whilst wading and the use of a wading stick is very helpful. Dry flies are fishing well still and should continue to do so for a few weeks on our rivers we are using at present smaller dry flies like Leaf hopper patters, Adams, May flies caddis, spider.
Fantastic reports are coming from fisherman fly fishing streams mouths around Lake Taupo anglers are catching some very nice conditioned Browns Trout and Rainbows trout that seeking the cooler waters.
Boat fishing people are having a ball on Lake Taupo with very stable weather and little wind making such a joy to be there.
Cheers tight lines
Ken
